To opt out of the SMUSA International Basic Health Plan with MSI you must complete an opt-out application and provide proof of your active MSI card. MSI opt-outs are granted on a term by term basis only.

This means, your MSI card must be valid for a full term in order to be opted-out.  If you want to be opted-out for the whole year, your MSI card must be valid from September 1 to August 31 of the current policy year. If your card expires part way through a term, you will not be eligible to opt-out of that term.

You must coplete the MSI opt-out application and incldue a copy of your valid MSI card. All applications must be e-mailed to the SMUSA Health Plan Office at healthplan.smusa@smu.ca Please complete the MSI opt out application here.
 

• To be opted-out for the Fall term your MSI card must be valid from September 1 - December 31 at minimum. 

• To be opted-out for the Winter term, your MSI card must be valid from January 1- April 30 at minimum.

• To be opted-out for the Spring/ Summter term, your MSI Card must be valid from May 1 - August 31. 

If you have made a clam under the SMUSA International Basic Health Plan, you will not be opted-out or refunded.
