As a Peak Student Benefits Member, you have access to Accident Benefits. Please see below for a detailed outline of your coverage. 

Accidental Death & Dismemberment    Maximum $5,000 

Payment of a stipulated sum for loss of life or limb through accidental means, provided such loss occurs within 365 days after the date of accident causing such loss

Accidental Dental      Maximum $2,000 

Injury to whole and sound teeth, and within 30 days from the day of the accident obtains treatment in Canada from a qualified dentist. Reimbursement will only be provided on expenses which are: incurred in Canada, incurred within 52 weeks of the date of the accident causing injury, incurred only for therapeutic and not elective or aesthetic treatment, and supported by an original standard dental claim form.

Tutorial Expense      Maximum $20/hour up to $5,000

If insured suffers injury resulting in hospital or medically necessary bed rest and is confined for at least 15 consecutive school days, as determined by a Physician, the insurer will pay for the private tutorial services of a qualified teacher.

Day Care Benefit         Maximum 5%, up to $5,000 per year/5 Year Total

If the Insured sustains an Injury that results in payment being made for loss of life. The Insurer will pay the reasonable and necessary day care expenses incurred for any dependent Child 12 years of age and under. Child must be enrolled in a legally licensed day care centre on the date of accident or within 365 days following the date of accident.

Eligibility                                             
All eligible students of the participating institutions, under the age of 70.


Repatriation Benefit
If a Primary Insured dies while outside Canada, the Company will pay the actual expense incurred for preparing the deceased for burial and shipment of the Insured's body to the city of residence of the deceased, to a maximumm of $5,000.


Seat Belt Benefit
If a Primary Insured dies, the Principal Sum amount of the Life Insurance benefit will be increased by 10%, up to a maximum of $10,000, if the Insured died as a result of an accident and at the time of the accident, the Insured was driving or riding in a vehicle and wearing a properly fastened seat belt. Due proof of seat belt use by the Insured must be provided as part of the written proof of loss. 


Special Education Benefit
If a Primary Insured dies, the Company will pay, in addiciotn to all other benefits payable under the policy, a Special Education Benefit equal to 5% of the Insured's Principal Sum amount of the Life Insurance benefit up to a maximum of $5,000 per year, on behalf of any depedent child who, on the date of the Insured's death, is enrolled as a full-time student in any post-secondary institution of higher learning beyond the 12th grade level, or was at the 12th grade level and subsequently enrolls as a full-time student in an insititution of higher learning, within 365 days following the date of death. 

The Special Education Benefit is payable annually for a maximum of four consecutive annual payments, but only if the dependent child continues his/her education as a full-time student in an institution of higher learning.



Living Benefits
If the Company has approved a waiver of premium benefit for Life Insurance for an Insured, he or she may be eligible for an advance payment of a part of Life Insurance benefit if he or she is suffering from a condition which is expected to result in death within 12 months provided:

a. the Insured requests, in writing, to the Company to consider his or her eligibility for the Living Benefit;
b. a Physician's statement is submitted to the Company indicating that, in the Physician's opinion, the Insured has less than 12 months to live; and
c. the Company has received, in writing, from both the Insured and all beneficiaries of the Insured's Life Insurance benefit, agreeing to the advance payment of the Life Insurace benefit to the Insured


If the Company approves the Insured's claim for the Living Benefit, the Company will pay to the Insured an amount up to 50% of the amount of the Life Insurance benefit in force on the day he or she became diagnosed with the life threatening condition, subject to a maximum of $50,000.

If the Company pays a Living Benefit claim, the amount of the Insured's Life Insurance benefit payable at the time of the Insured's death will be the amount for which the Insured is eligible, less the amount paid for by the Company as a Living Benefit, subject to the provisions of this policy.
