When opting-out, you will be enrolled into the Remote Study Health Program. This provides you with 24/7 access to confidential counselling, emergency assistance and more in your home country. This program is being provided to you at no cost by Dalhousie University. Your Remote Study Health Program Welcome Kit will be e-mailed to you in September. 
 
You must opt-out during the applicable opt-out periods.
 

 
DSU International Health Plan
 
International students are enrolled on the DSU Health Plan with coverage active from September 1 - August 31. Students will only be opted out one term at a time. You will be required to opt out each term that you are in your home country. 
 
You will be required to complete the opt-out form and submit to the health plan office. You will be provided an e-mail response regarding the outcome of your application. 

If you arrive in Canada after opting-out you are responsible for purchasing insurance coverage to cover you for emergency medical expenses while in Canada. Please e-mail info@studentvip.ca for assistance purchasing insurance coverage.
 
DSU Health and Dental Plan
 
You will only be required to opt-out during the Winter term opt-out period. This will opt you out for the remainder of the year. If you arrive in Canada during the spring semester, you will need to opt-in for coverage.
 
You must opt-out through the Dal Online portal. Select Web for students and Health Plan opt-out. Enter Home Country for all of the fields required. You will be provided an e-mail response regarding the outcome of your application. 
 
International students who are in Canada must follow the regular opt-out protocols. More information is available online at www.studentvip.ca/dsu
