You can submit an opt-in application during the term in which you begin your studies for that academic year, except for the Spring term:

Fall Opt-In: August 15 - September 30

Winter Opt-In: December 15 - January 25

Spring Opt-In: April 15 - May 25
The Extended Health and Dental plan covers things such as such as prescriptions drugs, vision, dental, physiotherapy, massage therapy, etc.
Adding Dependants to your plan(s):

You can opt-in dependants (spouse, common-law, and/or children) to the the Extended Health and/or Dental plan during the opt-in period set by SMUSA

Additional fees apply and will be added to your student account in Banner

Once you opt-in dependants, you cannot opt them out within the same policy year

The family plan offers the same coverage that students receive

If you are an international student, to opt-in dependant(s), you must also enrol them onto the Basic Health Plan by completing the form FOUND HERE. Unless you can prove your dependant(s) holds active provincial health coverage (ex. In Nova Scotia, this is MSI) and you submit proof to the Health Plan Office with your application.

The termination age for Drug, Extended Health, Dental, & Travel Coverage is 99.

The termination age for Accident Coverage is 70.
